Optimisation Wizard represents the next generation of network quality analysis and diagnosis tools.
Mobility Field experience has shown that an analysis of mobility using Optimisation Wizard can dramatically improve the network setup and call drop rate through addressing issues with the idle and connect mode parameterisation pattern. Often operators are not aware of the full impact of these issues until they witness the improvement generated by correcting them.
For example the mobility module of Optimisation Wizard can automatically analyse the distribution of average network times spent in compressed mode, when the power control feature is deactivated. It can show what percentage of the time “compressed mode” leads on to a handover. Compressed mode timings can also be benchmarked against other operators. This information can be directly used to adjust network settings and achieve the optimum between handover reliability and network performance.
Voice and Data Services Flowcharts allow you to automatically identify the main causes of delivered quality and performance degradation. They also identify the responsible network element. This allows the network team to get straight to the heart of the problem even though the symptoms could potentially point to different possible causes.
In voice, for example, the reasons for call drops and set up failures are automatically detected, saving a lot of time and OPEX. In data services, the main causes of HSDPA throughput degradation can be automatically detected and handed on to specific departments for resolution.
Radio Analysis The RF module of Optimisation Wizard automatically detects pilot pollution, overshooting, missing or unused neighbour relations and re-use of scrambling codes. This saves quality and engineering departments a great deal of time and money.
It can also help you to choose the optimum coverage area for each cell. The system calculates an accurate value for each cell based on declared neighbour relations, where the weight of each neighbour is different according to the distance and the relation of the target cell location with the azimuth of the source cell. Cells nearby or located within the beam of the source cell are accorded a higher weight.
For example overshooting cells can be automatically detected and both their location, and the location of the overshooting effect, be displayed on a geographic display.
Establishing Cell Site Locations Optimisation Wizard prepares a full 3G site database using the output from drive test data. This includes the location and configuration of competitor networks. Easy Data Import And Data Sharing Optimisation Wizard helps you to import measurement data from a range of third party systems into the NQDI database. This enables all departments to share data that may have been captured in a variety of ways and for different purposes. Together with the fact that all departments can also use the same tool, this leads to substantial savings in terms of the amount of drive testing that is needed, in staff training and in the amount of equipment that is needed. It also delivers the possibility of greater flexibility and co-operation between departments. |
